Javier Rivera

This cantaor born in Seville in 1975 is the son of the cantaor “El Pichichi”. A fan of singing since a young age, he began to dedicate himself professionally by winning a scholarship to study at the Cristina Heeren Foundation of Flamenco Art at age 24.
He studied several years with Naranjito de Triana and José de la Tomasa, while at the same time learning to accompany singing for the dancers at the tablao, “La Casa de la Memoria”.
In his professional beginnings he worked in Holland, Israel and the United States highlighting his collaborations with the dancer Rafael Campallo and the percussionist Manolo Soler.
Javier Rivera has been a renowned dance singer for years and has traveled all over the world with different dancers such as Adela Campallo, Carmen Ledesma, Leonor Leal, Úrsula López and others.
He has worked in several shows at the Seville Flamenco Biennial, the Jerez Festival, and the Cajasol circuit in Seville. He also highlights his work as a solo singer, having several singing prizes.
He has toured the entire geography of Andalusia singing in flamenco clubs and festivals. Soon he will participate with the Galván family in the Nimes Festival in France. Among his closest projects is the recording of his first solo album.

 

He currently combines his teaching, working as Professor of Cante at the Conservatory of Seville with his numerous performances and his usual presence in the cast of artists of the, “Casa de la Memoria”.
