Amador Rojas, a Sevillian from Los Palacios, was born in a gypsy family and at seven he met Maestro Farruco, with whom he began his training as a dancer. At sixteen, Salvador Távora hired him to be part of the company “La Cuadra” with the show “Carmen”. He remained in this company for five years, touring the world and participating in the 1998 Flamenco Biennial. Antonio Canales includes him, as a soloist, in his shows “Los Grandes”, “Bailaor”, “La Casa de Bernarda Alba” and ” Mano a Mano”. With his own company, he performs the work “Kahlo Caló”, based on the life and work of the universal Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, which premiered in January 2008 at the Villamarta Theater in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz). At the 2008 Flamenco Biennial of Seville, he received the “Revelation Artist” award in the Lope de Vega Theater. In June 2009, Amador captures the attention of the great theater director, Miguel Narros. In this encounter Narros embarks Amador for his next show of “Fedra”, where he plays the character of Hippolytus. Rojas acts alongside the protagonist, Lola Greco, and interprets pieces by the composer and singer Enrique Morente. “Fedra” premieres at the Roman Theater in Merida, where a successful tour is launched throughout Spain. In 2010 he plays “Mandala” in Los Angeles with great success. This is his first solo performance in America and he receives The Golden Lyre Musicianship Award. In the same year he is invited to inaugurate the legendary Barcelona theater El Molino where he represents several burlesque flamenco choreographies and premieres his show “Ritual” and “Flamenco and Copla” which remains in theater until 2013. In 2016 Amador toured throughout Spain with the show, “Las Minas Puerto Flamenco”, where he intervened as co-director and performer, culminating the show in the great Royal Theater of Madrid. Currently, Amador is doing Master classes in between his shows in Italy, France, Russia, Mexico and Spain while he also finds time to perform in “Casa de la Memoria” with whose cast he has been part of for several years.
